West Mexico: Ritual and Identity exhibit opens at Gilcrease

West Mexican figurines have always been a part of the Gilcrease collection but have remained mostly out of context. New scholarship has emerged from the Gilcrease museum leading to a reinterpretation of these figures. What do these figures mean and what do they numerous styles indicate about the people who lived in West Mexico thousands of years ago? That’s a question raised, if not answered, by West Mexico: Ritual and Identity, an exciting new exhibition at the Gilcrease Museum.

Below, we include a sneak peak from the exhibit! Make sure you make your way to the Gilcrease to see it in person!
